A Giveback Maasai Livestream Performance in Ngorongoro Tanzania
How COVID-19 affect Maasai?
In the light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we have canceled all the tours in Tanzania at the moment. We work with Maasai families who want to welcome travelers in their homes. Our mission is to empower and help, especially women. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions, their life has become more challenging than ever, and some of the families lack enough food to feed their families. Usually, Maasai can get some cash to buy extra food and medicine by selling cattle in local livestock markets or from tourism activities. However, due to the Coronavirus, local livestock markets are closed in their area, and there is no tourism at all. Some of our Maasai families are struggling to have enough food because their nutritional status is sustained through the supplementary supply of vegetables and starch procured from the market.
Our Response to Support Maasai
We continue to help Maasai by providing virtual Maasai performances from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. With the revenue, we support Maasai by buying food supplies such as maize flour for the most impoverished Maasai families in Tanzania. On the Livestream Maasai performance, the Maasai warriors and women dance and sing in the outstanding nature of Ngorongoro. The ticket costs 45 euros. After purchasing the ticket, we send you a link to attend the virtual online performance. With the purchase of one ticket, we give back 30kg of maize flour to one Maasai family.
